The Music Building is a concert hall on Piet Heinkade along the banks of the IJ River. The building is located above the IJ tunnel. The building was opened in 2005 by the then Queen Beatrix. The international music building has a unique hall with variable acoustics. This can be achieved by the moving ceiling and moving floor. In addition, the side walls can be moved to the stage and the back wall can be raised.
