Bossche city hall has a long history dating back to the 14th century. Originally, it consisted of three medieval residential houses that were joined and extended over the centuries to form a single entity. The current classicist façade dates from 1670 and was designed by Pieter Minne, an architect from The Hague. The stately columns, sand-coloured natural stone and symmetrical layout give the building a majestic appearance. Inside, numerous historical details have been preserved: from richly decorated halls and stained-glass windows to antique furniture, paintings and a monumental wedding hall. Here you can feel the past in every corner.
Although the town hall still fullfils an administrative function - council meetings are held here and official marriages are performed - parts of the building are also open to visitors during guided tours or Open Monuments Day. The Wedding Hall is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the Netherlands, with ceiling paintings and chandeliers. The Schepenzaal is a medieval courtroom with historic furniture and paintings. In De Raadzaal, the municipal council meets in an impressive, modern yet stylishly historic setting. In addition, artworks ranging from portraits to tapestries can be admired throughout the building.
