Beatrix Park is situated in the Amsterdam-Zuid district, in the Prinses Irenebuurt residential area. It is a small, peaceful park, close to the RAI Congress Centre, and was laid out in 1938 as a romantic, English-style park with a small pond and an open landscape. The park covers approximately 17 hectares.
Beatrix Park was laid out between 1936 and 1938 to a design by Jakoba Mulder, a leading Dutch landscape architect who was also involved in the Amsterdamse Bos. The park opened in May 1938. In 2005, the park was added to the municipal list of listed buildings. Beatrix Park is therefore not only a place to relax, but also a piece of Amsterdam’s landscape history.
Beatrix Park features lawns, tree-lined avenues and play areas, and visitors come here to jog, have a picnic and enjoy the ever-changing display of flowers. Scattered throughout the park are various sculptures and art installations. It’s a lovely spot for a stroll, a relaxing afternoon with the children or a break during a day out in the city. Your visit can easily be combined with a walk around the neighbourhood or a visit to the nearby RAI.
