The permanent exhibition takes you into the intriguing world of Maurits Cornelis Escher. His work revolves around perspective, reflection, infinity and metamorphosis. You will see famous prints such as Relativity, Waterfall and Metamorphosis III, and discover how Escher plays with logic, mathematics and imagination, all in black and white and yet full of colour for your mind.
The building itself exudes history: high ceilings, ornate ceilings, chandeliers. But instead of classical portraits, impossible staircases and infinite landscapes hang on the walls. It is precisely this combination, between chic palace and playful illusion, that makes a visit to Escher in Het Paleis so special. It's like being Alice in Wonderland, but with graphics as your guide.
In addition to the permanent collection, there are regular temporary exhibitions on optical art, mathematical beauty and related artists. For children, there is an interactive space where they can explore perspective and symmetry for themselves. And for everyone: the Escher Experience in the attic, where you can step into an Escher world, from giant rooms to rotating illusions.
After your visit, you can stroll along the beautiful Lange Voorhout, with its old lime trees, book stalls and views of the Binnenhof. Or you can relax on a terrace in the Museum Quarter, which you share with the Mauritshuis and the Historical Museum of The Hague, among others.
