If you visit the Market Hall, you cannot ignore its spectacular design. The horseshoe-shaped building, designed by MVRDV, consists of housing and offices. What really draws attention is the gigantic inner façade. This huge artwork, called Horn of Plenty and created by Arno Coenen and Iris Roskam, adorns the inside of the hall and shows a colorful spectacle of vegetables, fruit, fish and flowers. It is one of the largest works of art in the Netherlands and it gives the Market Hall an almost surreal look. Inside the Markthal, you step into a world of smell and taste, where more than 100 stalls, restaurants and shops are waiting to surprise you with international and local delicacies.
The Market Hall Rotterdam is a walhalla for foodies. You will find a mix of artisan products, exotic ingredients and culinary delights from all over the world. From sushi to cheese to Spanish delicacies can be found here. Whether you fancy fresh fish, handmade chocolate or Surinamese roti, you can find it all here.
A visit to the Market Hall is also perfect to combine with other Rotterdam attractions. Had enough to eat? Then you can spend an afternoon shopping at De Lijnbaan & Koopgoot.
